Cowles Clinic is the largest and most advanced multi-specialty medical campus in the Lake Oconee region. The clinic is centrally located on Linger Longer Road in Greensboro providing easy access for patients in Greene, Putnam and Morgan counties and beyond. Housed in an office cottage style complex, Cowles Clinic offers a broad range of specialties focused on complete health evaluation, early detection, prevention and treatment of disease for all ages. The primary or satellite offices of 26 medical practices are located on the 13 acre campus. Health care in the region is being transformed through access to advanced medical care and technology on the level of the leading metropolitan medical centers.
History and Credentials
Dr. Robert Cowles, III, established Cowles Clinic in 2004 after relocating his Atlanta based urology practice to the lake area. Dr. Cowles' vision was to meet the healthcare needs of the burgeoning Lake Oconee community by recruiting leading physicians to create an expert medical team. Cowles Clinic's board certified physicians have trained at some of the most prestigious medical schools including: Emory University, Dartmouth University, Duke University, Harvard University, Medical College of Virginia, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, University of Florida, Georgetown University, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Johns Hopkins University, M.D. Anderson, National Naval Medical School and many others.

Georgia Center for Total Cancer Care at Cowles Clinic - Staffed by two of the largest and most respected oncology groups in the southeast, Atlanta Oncology Associates and Georgia Cancer Specialists, who together with Cowles Clinic's physicians create a team approach to treatment. The 11,000 square foot, dedicated center delivers medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, genetic counseling and a full range of patient wellness services. The facility includes an auditorium for community health education events.
Cowles Clinic Imaging Center - Convenient diagnostic care in a state-of-the-art, 100% digital facility delivering Computed Tomography (CT), MRI, Breast MRI, Bone Densitometry and X-ray.
Sleep Center - The comfortably appointed center provides overnight sleep studies under the direction of a board certified physician in sleep medicine.
Physical Rehabilitation Facility – Full time physical rehabilitation is available in the 2,000 square foot facility that includes treatment rooms, full cardiovascular weight training equipment and total gym equipment.
Cowles Clinic Laboratory - A state licensed lab providing full services including pathology and cytology.
Executive Health Program - Meeting the healthcare needs of busy executives regionally, nationally and internationally through customized and comprehensive evaluations in the retreat setting of Lake Oconee. Dr. John McCurley, former Director of Internal Medicine, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD and former Staff Physician to U.S. Congress and U.S. Supreme Court, is Cowles Clinic's Medical Director and Director of Executive Health.
Future Expansion
Cowles Clinic is continually expanding. The Oak Cottage has just been completed, housing Cowles Clinic Internal Medicine and Executive Health, as well as providing temporary space for optometry and ophthalmology. The Willow Cottage, which will serve as the permanent home for optometry and ophthalmology, as well as pediatrics, will be completed in Fall 2007. Finally, a new facility for the Cowles Clinic Center for Urology, Cowles Clinic's administrative offices, and Cowles Clinic Dermatology, will break ground this winter.

Cowles Clinic Annual Health Fair – Our physicians and staff host this annual event each spring on our campus. It is free to the community with health information and screenings. An afternoon of free food, recreation and entertainment is enjoyed by all ages.
Health Lectures and Support Groups - The campus serves as a healthcare resource through on site community lectures and cancer support groups.
