Athens Regional Physician Group Primary Care at Cowles Clinic focuses on adult health care. We care for our patients for life – from the teen years through senior adult – with specialized training in adult wellness, prevention and treatment of disease. Patients with both simple and complex health concerns are welcomed, including those with severe chronic illness or multiple medical problems. Effective and time sensitive treatment is provided for both common and acute medical problems. We work with the Cowles Clinic sub-specialists as a multidisciplinary team to see that all health concerns are addressed. Care is coordinated in our campus office and, if needed, in the hospital setting. A full range of laboratory and radiological testing capabilities are available on our medical campus for diagnosis, direct treatment and prevention of disease.

Athens Regional Physician Group Primary Care at Cowles Clinic is staffed by two physicians: Aurelio D. Manto, M.D., board certified in Internal Medicine and Richard Baehler, M.D., board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Manto, a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician, hails from Boston where he has been practicing medicine for the past 15 years.He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts and holds a medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Manto completed his Internal Medicine residency at Harvard-affiliated Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Dr. Manto has published, served as a clinical instructor at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and served as an active member of the medical community in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Dr. Richard Baehler has extensive clinical and research experience in internal medicine and renal (kidney) disease. His numerous hospital appointments have included Section Chief of Internal Medicine and Neuphrology at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, KY. Dr. Baehler has written extensively on renal disease and served as both a primary and sub investigator in medical research.
