Paces Plastic Surgery

Founded in 1993 in Atlanta, Georgia, Paces Plastic Surgery blends art and technology to create a comfortable, state of the art facility for plastic surgery patients. At Paces, the philosophy is aimed at giving patients a natural, more youthful appearance with cosmetic facial procedures and enhanced self-confidence following breast and body procedures. Additionally, reconstructive patients leave with a renewed sense of well being following surgery to correct deformities from trauma, cancer, or previous operations. With an ophthalmologist on staff and several of the plastic surgeons possessing additional formal training in oculoplastic surgery, which is surgery of the eyelids and orbits, Paces has become of the nation’s leading centers for eyelid surgery. Primary cosmetic eyelid procedures as well as revision eyelid procedures to correct complications after eyelid surgery are performed on a regular basis by the doctors at Paces Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Hester

T. Roderick Hester, Jr, MD

A native of Cairo, Georgia, Dr. Hester is considered one of the nation’s leading plastic surgeons. He has contributed significant innovations in plastic surgery techniques and authored more than 100 scientific articles, and he lectures frequently throughout the world.

Dr. Hester received undergraduate, medical school and plastic surgery training at Emory University. Prior to founding Paces Plastic Surgery and Recovery Center in 1993, Dr. Hester was a Professor for 15 years at Emory University, where he is now serving as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for which he is on the Board of Directors.

In addition to numerous professional honors and awards, he is listed in the “Best Doctors in America”, the “Best Doctors in the U.S.”, Town & Country Magazine, More Magazine, and Atlanta Magazine as one of the top plastic surgeons. Dr. Hester is indemand to speak at plastic surgery meetings and to demonstrate surgical procedures. Dr. Hester is board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Each year Dr. Hester is a featured speaker and teacher at numerous national and international plastic surgery meetings. In recognition of these achievements, Dr. Hester has received numerous awards and honors by his peers.

As a final note, Dr. Hester is known for the genuine concern he has for the needs of each individual patient. He is committed to helping patients make appropriate decisions and seeing them through their treatment process. His standing as a leader in the field is matched by his reputation of special caring and concern for his patients. In his free time, Dr. Hester enjoys fishing, playing golf and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Dr. Hurt

Susan C Hurt, MD – Dermatologist

Doctor Susan C. Hurt has recently joined Paces Plastic Surgery for the practice of Dermatology. Dr. Hurt is a Georgia native and a fourth generation physician. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where she also completed her Dermatology Residency. During her residency, Dr. Hurt served as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and was chosen for a British Association of Dermatologists Fellowship award. She also served as Chief Resident of Dermatology.

Dr. Hurt has practiced Dermatology in the West Paces Ferry area of Atlanta for the past 23 years. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Georgia Society of Dermatologists, and the Atlanta Dermatological Association, where she serves on the Legislative Committee. She was involved in the sponsorship and passage of the "Direct Access to Dermatology" legislation signed into state law in 1995 by then Governor Zell Miller. Dr. Hurt is also a member of the Medical Association of Atlanta and the Medical Association of Georgia. She has special interests in the areas of skin cancer management, aesthetic dermatology, and in dermatology as it relates to internal disease. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Hurt is involved in many philanthropic endeavors, including support of the Shepherd Center, Juvenile Diabetes, and the Atlanta History Center, among others.

Skincare/Spa

Paces offices have Skin Care Centers which offer an array of non-surgical services to optimize skin health and tone. These services are often a complement to surgery, helping to prepare the skin for surgery or to enhance and prolong the results achieved in the operating room.

Skin care consultations and evaluations are performed by a licensed aesthetician to determine which combination of procedures and skin care products may best meet patient needs. Services offered include: laser hair removal, photofacials, fractional resurfacing, microdermabrasion, Endermologie * Facial Peels, facials, massage and lymphatic drainage massage.
